Can 2019 be the year we finally understand that medication for mental health is necessary, potentially life saving, and leave judgement in the past where it belongs because the brain can get sick and need treatment just like A N Y other organ.
Meet 11 year old Muhammad. Originally from Syria, currently living in one of those dilapidated shacks in the background in a refugee city in Lebanon.
Don’t be fooled by that smile. That beautiful smile hides so many pains.
Behind that smile is an orphan whose father died and whose mother is missing.
Behind that smile is the responsibility of an older brother having to take care of his 8 year old sister, Lara, without any parents.
Behind that smile is an optimism that expects the best from Allah, despite the sub-zero temperature and the lack of thick clothes and electricity and heating.
Behind that smile is pure faith, untainted by the horrors of war, and hunger, and fleeing, and death.
We can’t solve all of Muhammad’s problems. But we can increase that smile of joy, for him and for thousands others like him.
Help us help the Syrian refugees living in freezing cold conditions. I have just returned from their camps two days ago, and I am working with READ Foundation and local charities to deliver winter packs to people like Muhammad.
Please, DONATE at the link below, and SHARE this post so that others can see too.
I am personally involved with and monitoring these donations, and whatever you give WILL reach Muhammad’s camp and the surrounding camps within days.
